Bangladeshi farmers got a new evil now to fight on and that is GMO Golden Rice. Bangladesh agriculture ministry recently declared that Golden Rice will be released commercially soon to the farmers. Bangladesh Krishok Federation (BKF) and Bangladesh Kishani Sabha are very concern of government move to release Golden Rice commercially in farmer's level.
Farmers protest took place in southern divisional city of Barisal jointly organised by BKF and BKS on 27 February 2019 against commercial release of Golden Rice in Bangladesh. The protest led by the BKF join secretary Harun Vandari and BKS vice president Rehana Begum Mitu. In the protest, BKF and BKS leaders strongly criticised the government move to release Golden Rice and demanded to change the government decision and Stop Golden Rice commercial release now.
GMO Golden Rice will destroy hundreds of rice verities in Bangladesh and other countries. Golder Rice is a trap for farmers. In the beginning, the farmer can get the free Golden Rice seeds for cultivation. But when farmers will fall in the trap of Golden Rice, the seed price will be very high. Exactly like BT-Bringal (Eggplant). In the beginning, the BT-Bringal seeds were free, then minimum price and now many times expensive than the local Bringal seeds, said farmers leaders in the protest.
BKF and BKS leaders said that GMO Golden Rice also will destroy our soil and biodiversity. Farther more, we don't need beta carotene from the Golden Rice. Our sweet potato contains 48 times more beta carotene than the Golden Rice, Carrots contains 35 times more beta carotene than the Golden Rice and Pumpkin contains 13 times more beta carotene than the Golden Rice. Farmers are growing those vegetables across Bangladesh and it is very cheap that even extremely poor communities can afford it. Therefore, Golden Rice beta carotene propaganda of TNCs is a trap to capture the seed markets in Bangladesh and elsewhere. BKF and BKS leaders urged to the farmer organisations in Bangladesh and across the globe to build a strong campaign against GMO Golden Rice.

A big peasant and landless protest took place in Bangladesh against Badrul Alam and his extortionist group on 6th February 2019.
The protest was led by the vice-general secretary of BKF Harun Vandari, BKS vice-president Rehana Begum Mitu and other central and district leaders. Leaders said that Badrul Alam is an identified human trafficker and expelled from Bangladesh Krishok Federation (BKF) two years ago. After expulsion, Badrul Alam immediately joined with an identified extortionist group led by Zayed Ikbal Khan. Now both Badrul Alam and Zayed Ikbal Khan are together trying to revive their human trafficking activities while trying to grab money by extortion from the landless. The badrul-zayed group is abusing the government declaration to distribute Khas Land among the landless people. The group is giving fake commitments to landless families. Badrul Alam is an identified human trafficker. He ousted in 2017 from Bangladesh Krishok Federation (BKF) when BKF central committee was confirmed that Badrul Alam is trafficking people from Bangladesh to western countries and abusing La Via Campesina and BKF. Then immediately Badrul Alam joined with another culprit Zayed Khan who himself expelled from BKF in 2002 in the proved corruption charges. Zayed Khan and his family members gave fake commitment to the landless people that they will convince government officials to allocate Khas Land among the selected landless families and took big money from more than four thousand landless families. When landless people understood that they are cheated by Zayed Khan and family, hundreds of landless families sent written allegations to BKF central committee and BKF CC ousted Zayed Khan and four others from same Khan Family.

Bangladesh Krishok Federation (BKF) and Bangladesh Kishani Sabha (BKS) organised the press conference on 25 November 2018 in southern divisional city Barisal where Badrul Alam-Zayed Khan group trying to cheat landless families again. BKF and BKS demanded to the government to arrest Badrul Alam and Zayed Khan and save landless families from their grip.
Before the press conference, there was meeting of the grassroots leaders of BKF and BKS. The grassroots leaders from all the sub-district of Barisal participated in the meeting and later the press conference.
Media coverage was very well when lots of national and local journalists were present in the press conference.
